Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting

Q: When I open Z-43 in FS, an error message appears while loading saying "Flight Simulator was unable to load some aircraft or software. You can continue using Flight Simulator but this aircraft or software will be disabled. FILE: GAUGES\cva_z43_v1_0.gau" and when the aircraft loads, I don't see any gauges on any of the panels or in the VC.

A: In 99% of cases this error is caused by missing FSSound.dll library. Check if you have FSSound.dll installed in your FS\Modules folder. If not, download it from here and add this to your FS9.cfg:

[OLDMODULES]
fssound.dll=1

Q: Although I click on attitude indicator's unlock knob and the "A" sign disappear, the indicator still doesn't work.

A: This instrument (together with gyrocompass) is electrical instrument and is connected to Convertor circuit. Usually when you select the aircraft in FS, it loads with engine started and few circuits on, but this isn't the case of Convertor circuit. You have to switch it ON, before you can use attitude indicator and gyrocompass.

Please see checklist on how to correctly start up and set up aircraft systems during the flight.

Q: Attitude indicator globe is upside down - brown part is up and blue part is down. Isn't it wrong?

A: There is nothing wrong. Gyro horizon LUN 1202 indeed looks like that.

Q: Zlin 43 starts to bank to the left after few minutes of flight. What's wrong?

A: Z-43 has 4 fuel tanks, 2 tanks in each wing - wingtip tank with capacity of 50 l and main tank with capacity of 65 l. Because both tanks are connected and wingtip tank is higher than the main tank, the loss of fuel in the main tank is compensated by fuel flowing from the wingtip tank - thus the wingtip tank is empty first. Z-43 fuel system doesn't allow using fuel from both wings together - you can only use fuel from one of the wings at a time. As the fuel in one wing is consumed, this wing becomes lighter (and also the balance of forces is broken) and the aircraft starts to bank to the heavier side.

When you load Z-43 in FS, the fuel system is set to use fuel from the right wing tanks. Thus after few minutes of flight this wing becomes lighter and the aircraft start to bank to the left (to the heavier side). If you switch to left wing fuel tanks, the weight difference between the wings will be smaller and smaller every minute and the aircraft will stop turning left. Eventually, when the left wing becomes lighter then the right wing, you'll notice the aircraft starts to bank to the right.

Q: How can I open cockpit door, baggage area door or engine cover?

A: Cockpit door can be opened using standard "Select exit" function (Shift+E for pilot door, Shift+E,2 for copilot door - default setting IIRC), engine cover is connected to "Wing fold/unfold" function and baggage area door is assigned to "toggle spoiler" function.

Check your FS key assignments to see which keys you need to use for those functions.
